The Toyota Yaris Ativ is a compact, economical sedan. A great option for a couple or solo traveller: low fuel use (5–6 litres per 100 km), powerful air-con, brisk acceleration and a tiny turning circle — it parks in any gap in Patong or Phuket Town. On the highway it confidently holds 100–110 km/h all the way to Krabi or Phang Nga. One of the most sensible value-for-comfort options for a longer rental.

The 1.2 engine is tuned for economy rather than thrills, so for overtaking a loaded car or a long uphill climb with passengers, plan your acceleration ahead — there isn't much power in reserve. The sedan's low ground clearance sets limits too: give a wide berth to dirt turn-offs to wild beaches and deep puddles after a tropical downpour — this is a car for tarmac. But in the city nothing beats it for convenience — the tiny turning circle and compact size let you park where bigger cars give up. The typical renter is a solo traveller or couple on a longer rental who value reliability and low running costs over rich equipment.
